arn FIDE rating points, Grand Prix points and have fun at the 2006 Wellington Open. The winner will be crowned 2006 Wellington Open Champion and along with the winner’s purse will receive a personal trophy to keep.

The Wellington B and C grade Champions will also receive personal trophies.

Venue

The tournament will be held at Turnbull House, Bowen Street, Wellington. The central city venue, is within walking distance of most accommodation options, cafés and fast food outlets. Free parking is available on nearby Molesworth Street. Free tea and coffee will be available. To help players enjoy a sociable evening the organisers on Friday and Saturday will nominate a restaurant where those who wish to can gather for a meal.

Format

The tournament will be run as a single group Swiss. The tournament winner will be declared the Wellington Open Champion 2006. In addition the Wellington B and C Grade Champions will be decided by the highest placing players within their grades.

Accommodation

A range of accommodation options are available in central Wellington. 5 minutes walk from the venue is the Downtown Backpackers. In addition to the normal inexpensive backpacker style shared rooms they have reasonably priced single and twin share rooms. Mid range priced accommodation is available at the Sharella Motor Inn, 15 minutes walk away. For more luxurious surroundings the historic Tinakori Lodge is 10 minutes walk from the venue.
