Garry Kasparov stormed home in the Corus Super Tournament to win the event for the third successive year, unprecedented in its 63-year history. He finished undefeated with five wins and eight draws. After a lack-lustre start Vishy Anand finished strongly to take second place a half-point behind Kasparov, while early leader Alexei Shirov faded in the final rounds, allowing Anand to escape with a draw and losing to Kramnik and Ivanchuk. Final scores: Kasparov 9/13; Anand 8; Kramnik, Ivanchuk 8; Shirov, Morozevich, Adams 7; Leko 6; Topalov 5; Fedorov, Van Wely 5; Piket, Tiviakov 4; Timman 4.
